The safety and the sustainability of road mobility are largely dependent on the possibility to have vehicles regularly and thoroughly maintained and repaired over their lifetime. Such operations fix technical issues, or even prevent small problems to develop into larger ones. This is the crucial, daily mission and purpose of the European automotive aftermarket, its millions of dedicated workers and its 500.000 smaller and larger businesses.
However, over the last years, some market operators have dramatically increased their prices for accessing inputs which are necessary for the proper maintenance and repair of vehicles and on which they have a monopoly, such as technical information and some spare parts. This has a direct deterrent effect on the possibility for the aftermarket to propose affordable, competitive services and solutions to their customers. In turn, this has a detrimental effect on the possibility for
regular, thorough maintenance and repair operations which could keep the vehicle in optimal conditions.
At the occasion of the Danish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, join us to learn more about the crucial contribution of our sector to better road mobility, its benefits for consumers and society at large, and how European legislations, if appropriately updated and upgraded, could continue support Europe Europe’s innovation and leadership in the global automotive sector.
