Access to vehicles’ information: what has changed since last Autopromotec, and what should change in the next five years?

Access to vehicle’s information is central for its repair, maintenance and service. It is in particular true to maintain the safety, the sustainability and the affordability of road mobility over the lifetime of a vehicle.

Since last Autopromotec, several changes have occurred in conjunction with European legislation, improving the access of the independent aftermarket to such critical information. Over the next years, more changes could happen. The Motor Vehicle Block Exemption Regulation, the Type Approval Regulation, the Data Act, SERMI… many European legislations are key to accessing information for the most recent vehicles, in particular with the uptake of electrification and connectivity.
